According to reports in the Greek press, a Bell 206 type private helicopter that took off from Markopoulo, east of the capital Athens, crashed in the Tholos area of Sifnos Island in the Aegean Sea, where the helipad is located. A fire broke out in the area after the incident, which occurred a short distance from the helipad while it was landing.
