The famous singer Hadise's Ramadan clip prepared for UNICEF has ignited a major controversy by listing Turkey among "needy" countries alongside regions of deep humanitarian crises such as Gaza, Sudan, and Africa. The harshest response to this comparison came from Hadise's ex-boyfriend Sinan Akçıl. Akçıl accused Hadise of undermining Turkey's prestige abroad, stating, "It would be nice if the desire to belittle Turkey with unnecessary statements came to an end."
The famous singer Hadise's Ramadan video, prepared in collaboration with UNICEF, ignited a new debate in the world of magazines and social media. Hadise's portrayal of Turkey as a "needy" country in the same category as regions experiencing humanitarian crises like Gaza, Sudan, and Africa drew a harsh response from musician Sinan Akçıl.
"THE DESIRE TO DISPARAGE TURKEY"
Sinan Akçıl, who had a relationship with Hadise between 2009 and 2010, accused his former partner of damaging Turkey's image in a statement he made on social media. Akçıl expressed his reaction by saying, "It would be wonderful if the desire to belittle Turkey abroad with unnecessary statements came to an end."
"FOREIGNERS ARE PLANNING VACATIONS"
Stating that he is currently abroad, Akçıl argued that Turkey is not a crisis region, but rather a center of attraction. The musician included the following statements in his explanation: "I am currently abroad, and many English and French people I talk to are planning their summer vacation to come to our country. How happy we are."
AFRICA AND RAMADAN MESSAGE
Emphasizing that Turkey is in a strong position, Akçıl concluded his remarks by referring to Hadise's comparison: "I wish everyone a Ramadan filled with abundance, where we feel sorry for Africa but are not confused with those regions."
