AFAD announced that a 5.8 magnitude earthquake occurred centered in Marmaris, Muğla. The earthquake was also felt in Muğla, İzmir, Aydın, and Antalya. 230 PERSONNEL HAVE BEEN DEPLOYED
After the meeting, teams from AFAD and the Muğla Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change began scanning and technical inspection work in the district. It was recorded that approximately 230 personnel were deployed to the field to conduct scanning work throughout the district under the coordination of AFAD. Following a report of cracks in a citizen's house, teams were directed to the address. It was reported that the teams are continuing their technical inspections in the mentioned house. It was stated that the crisis desk continues to work in coordination with all institutions and maintains uninterrupted communication.
THE FAMILY DESCRIBED HER LAST MOMENTS
Afra Nur Günlü, an 8-D class student at Çamköy Middle School, lost her life due to a panic attack during the earthquake in Fethiye, Muğla. Her relatives said that Afra Nur Günlü, who was in the same room as her sister during the earthquake, suddenly woke up, stood up, and then lay back down on her bed. Upon this, her concerned relatives reported the situation to the medical teams. Günlü was taken to a private hospital by ambulance but could not be saved. It was learned that Günlü was preparing for the LGS exam, and her sudden death saddened her relatives.
FAREWELL TO HER LAST JOURNEY
A funeral ceremony was held for Günlü, the youngest of her family's three daughters, at Çamköy Cemetery. The ceremony was attended by Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık, Fethiye District Governor İsmail Hakkı Ertaş, Muğla Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Aras, Fethiye Mayor Alim Karaca, and many citizens. Günlü was laid to rest in tears after the prayer performed without waiting for noon.
GOVERNOR AKBIYIK: 75 OF OUR CITIZENS WERE AFFECTED
Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık stated in a statement, "75 of our citizens have been affected by the earthquake. Of these patients, 5 were treated on-site, and 65 were discharged with healing after examinations and treatments. One of our citizens has passed away, and a total of 4 citizens, including one in serious condition, are continuing their treatment in the hospital. It has been determined that the citizen in serious condition suffered a head injury due to a fall. Our health teams are closely monitoring developments, and the health status of our citizens is being meticulously observed," he said.
