In Büyükçekmece, Avcılar, and Esenyurt, a man named Bahtiyar Aladağ killed his mother Necmiye Aladağ, his father Muhammet Aladağ, his cousin Şadan Serdar Buke, and a person named Mehmet Salih Özsökük, who was working at a hairdresser, for an unknown reason. In the armed attacks he organized, he seriously injured his brother-in-law Gökhan Soylu and his sister Buket Aladağ. The suspect later committed suicide by placing a gun to his head inside a vehicle.

It was revealed that before the murders, the attacker also killed his wife Sevim Aladağ, his 10-year-old son Arsal Aladağ, and his mother-in-law Türkan Soylu near the Büyükçekmece lake.

Aladağ, who arrived at the house wearing a hooded jacket, was later seen quickly leaving the house.
