Here is the book scam of private schools! Look how much they demanded for 1000 lira books.

A lawyer in Adana revealed the book scam of private schools when he was asked for 30 thousand liras for 1000 lira worth of books for his daughter enrolled in a private school. An investigation was launched into the school.

Nazan Akça Subaşı in Adana enrolled her 10-year-old daughter in a private school. However, she was directed to a special bookstore for textbooks and was presented with a bill of 30,000 liras. When Subaşı reached the publishing house that printed the books and requested to pick them up from there, her offer was rejected, and the truth came out.

THEY DEMANDED 30,000 LIRAS FOR 1,000 LIRA BOOKS

Nazan Akça Subaşı, a lawyer living in Adana, enrolled her 10-year-old daughter Dilda Ece in a private school located in the 2000 Evler neighborhood of the Seyhan district. However, she was presented with a bill of 30,000 liras for textbooks at a special bookstore. When Subaşı's offer was allegedly rejected with the response, "We only have an agreement with one stationery store in Adana. You can buy the books from there. We do not have individual sales," she realized the truth. As a result, Subaşı did not buy the books and discovered another shock when she investigated the duplicate books sold by the publishing house online. She found out that the value of the books was not 30,000 liras but approximately one thousand liras. Subaşı took the matter to court.

INDICTMENT ACCEPTED

The prepared indictment was accepted by the 6th Criminal Court of Adana. The Institution Director E.G. was charged with "abuse of duty" and faced a prison sentence of 1 to 3 years. It was also revealed that the stationery store operating in the city contacted the parents and put pressure on them by saying, "Your child has not bought the school books. They cannot attend the classes without these books. They will fall behind in their lessons." It was learned that the phone numbers of the parents were obtained from the private school.

THEY FORCE US TO BUY THESE BOOKS

In addition, a teacher who left the school last year also joined the lawsuit and stated that their opinions were not asked during the book selection process at the private school. Lawyer Nazan Akça Subaşı said, "For books that would cost a maximum of one thousand liras if purchased from outside the school, some schools are selling them for 30,000 liras, some for 50-70, and even 100 thousand liras. I invite all parents to be aware of this. The state already distributes all the books that our children need to read for free, even if it is a private school. All the books sold to us are classified as supplementary books. They can choose any book from any publishing house. Private schools, on the other hand, make an agreement with a publishing house based in Istanbul and only sell these books to one stationery store in Adana. They force you to buy these books."

"THOSE WHO BUY THE BOOKS SHOULD APPLY TO THE PROVINCIAL ARBITRATION BOARD"

Subaşı, who stated that she was even contacted for a 15% discounted book sale, said, "The situation has become so organized that they give the personal cell phone numbers of private school parents to these agreed stationery stores. Then, this stationery store calls me and tells me all the information about my daughter, saying, 'You have not bought the books. If you buy them by a certain date, we will give you a 15% discount.' They share the personal data of the parents with the stationery stores. This is against the competition law, it is against the law to make an agreement with one place and impose it on people. Moreover, it is a threat to sell a one thousand lira book for 30,000 liras and say, 'If you don't buy these books, your child cannot take the exam, your child cannot attend the class.' Making people pay 30,000 liras for a one thousand lira book is fraud. We are not obliged to comply with this contract. If those who bought these books have experienced similar situations and paid high amounts of money, please report it to the provincial arbitration boards in their respective cities."

"THE ORGANIZATION IS HUGE"

Lawyer Nazan Akça Subaşı, who stated that she had the same problem last year and took the matter to court, said, "The district governorate has already granted permission to investigate the private school. The trial is still ongoing. We encountered the same problem this year as well, despite the ongoing lawsuit. In fact, the profit is so huge, and the organization is so extensive that they continue to carry out this unfair practice by sacrificing one person." Subaşı also claimed that students who do not buy books at the private school are not allowed to attend classes by the administration.
