The indictment prepared within the scope of the "threat and blackmail" investigation, in which Tanju Özcan, who is detained under the "embezzlement" investigation in Bolu, is both a suspect and a victim, has been accepted. A prison sentence of up to 3 years is sought for Tanju Özcan on the grounds of "blackmail" against a municipal employee named Öznur Ç.
Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan filed a complaint in February against Mehmet Eren Akgüney, alleging that he was being blackmailed. Mehmet Eren Akgüney was detained on February 28, and on the same day, Tanju Özcan was also detained as part of an investigation into 'extortion by coercion'. Akgüney was arrested. Özcan was also arrested in connection with the 'extortion by coercion' investigation, sent to Sincan Prison in Ankara, and removed from his position as Mayor of Bolu.
ÖZCAN, A VICTIM OF "FORBIDDEN LOVE" BLACKMAIL
The indictment of the 'threat and blackmail' investigation, in which Tanju Özcan is both a complainant and a defendant, has been completed. According to the 13-page indictment prepared by the public prosecutor, Tanju Özcan sent sexually explicit messages to Öznur Ç., an employee of Bolu Municipality, and these messages were intercepted by the woman's ex-boyfriend, Mehmet Eren Akgüney. The indictment states that Akgüney demanded 20 million TL, a car, and a car wash facility from Özcan. It also mentions that Akgüney stated he would distribute the messages to the media if Özcan's demands were not met. E.B. and H.E.S. were also included in the investigation on the grounds that they facilitated the threats and blackmail.
FELL INTO DEFENDANT STATUS IN THE INCIDENT HE COMPLAINED ABOUT AS A VICTIM
According to the indictment, based on Öznur Ç.'s statements, Tanju Özcan also fell into the position of a defendant. In her statement to the prosecutor's office, Öznur Ç. indicated that Tanju Özcan played a recording of a tip-off regarding her 'abortion' at the municipality's call center in his office and said, "What will happen if Eren hears this recording? I will protect you, I like you, you will meet with me." The prosecutor's office evaluated Özcan's words as 'blackmail'. In the statements included in the indictment, Tanju Özcan claimed he was subjected to threats and blackmail, filing a complaint against Akgüney, E.B., and H.E.S., while denying the allegations of blackmail against Öznur Ç. and any relationship with her. Akgüney, E.B., and H.E.S. also denied all accusations in their statements.
UP TO 3 YEARS IN PRISON REQUESTED FOR ÖZCAN
In the indictment, a request for up to 3 years in prison was made for Tanju Özcan, who is in both complainant and defendant status, due to his actions against Öznur Ç. for the charge of 'Blackmail'. Additionally, a fine of 5,000 days and deprivation of certain rights were requested against Özcan.
For the defendant Mehmet Eren Akgüney, a total of up to 12 years in prison was requested for the charges of 'Blackmail' for his actions against Tanju Özcan, and 'Deprivation of liberty' and 'Threat' for his actions against Öznur Ç. It was also stated that E.B. and H.E.S., who were alleged to have acted as intermediaries in the blackmail negotiations, were directly involved as 'joint perpetrators', and a request for up to 3 years in prison was made for each of them. The prepared indictment was accepted by the Bolu 6th Criminal Court of First Instance.
