After the appointment of trustees to the municipalities of Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti by the DEM Party, Mehdi Tunç, the Co-Chair of the DEM Party Mardin Province, made statements that drew reactions while speaking to the PKK's media outlet. "THIS PEOPLE WILL ESTABLISH THEIR OWN COURT"Tunç stated: Our ongoing resistance will continue for days, months, or even weeks if necessary. This people will judge, this people will establish a court here tomorrow. The people of Mardin will establish their own court, a people's court, against the usurpation of their will. These trustees will go. We absolutely do not accept this usurpation. It is completely plunder and destruction. They need to be removed from every part of Kurdistan geography. CALL FOR REBELLION FROM BAKIRHANFollowing the trustee decision, DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan also called for rebellion in his speech in Mardin, stating, "They should know very well that whatever Sheikh Sait, Seyit Rıza, Deniz, and Sakin did, the Kurdish people and the peoples of Turkey will do the same. Neither their trustees, nor their policies of oppression, nor their lies, nor their tricks will make us kneel." BAHÇELİ'S SECOND 'ÖCALAN' CALLIn recent weeks, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli called for PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan to come to the Parliament, saying, "The terrorist leader should come and declare that terrorism has ended." In this week's group meeting, he reiterated his call, stating, "If the terrorist leader, who was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment, will say that terrorism has ended and that the PKK has been dissolved, let him come to the DEM Group, let him say it one by one, and let him benefit from the right of hope. I stand by my word, and I insist on my proposal." A RESPONSE FROM THE DEM PARTYWhile the repercussions of Bahçeli's statement continue, the first response from the DEM Party came. DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan stated, "Mr. Bahçeli, we took the hand you extended to us, but your other hand was shattered by your partner. There is no problem with the hand you extended to us, the problem is with your partner who undermines the other hand. If you want a solution, abandon the trustee mentality. If you want a solution, first lift the isolation. If you want a solution, apply the law."
