A university student named Remziye Horuz, who had an egg allergy, passed away in the hospital where she had been receiving treatment since December 2, after feeling unwell from eating a cake that her friends brought for her birthday in Ağrı.
Remziye Horuz, a university student with an egg allergy in Ağrı, passed away in intensive care due to a cake she ate on her birthday.
Remziye Horuz (25), who stayed at the Abdurrahim Arvasi Girls' Dormitory, had her friends plan a surprise birthday celebration for her on December 2.
FRIENDS SPECIFICALLY WARNED
According to reports, two students who went to a bakery in the city center informed the staff about their friend's egg allergy and ordered a cake that did not contain eggs. After celebrating their friend's birthday with the cake, the students noticed that Horuz had fallen ill. Horuz was taken to Ağrı Training and Research Hospital and was admitted to intensive care that same night. Despite the interventions, Remziye Horuz lost her battle for life in intensive care.
2 SUSPECTS DETAINED
As part of the investigation conducted by the Ağrı Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Y.A. (41) and F.Y. (32), who worked at the bakery, were detained. Additionally, it was learned that a sample of the cake taken on the day of the incident was sent to the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Agriculture Laboratory to determine whether it contained egg components.
UNIVERSITY'S CONDOLENCE MESSAGE
Prof. Dr. İlhami Gülçin, the Rector of Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University, published a condolence message. In his message, Gülçin stated, "We have learned with deep sadness that Remziye Horuz, a 4th-year student in our Translation and Interpreting Department, passed away in intensive care due to a food allergic reaction. I pray for mercy for the deceased and offer my condolences to her family, loved ones, friends, and the university community. May her place be paradise."
