Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif made a call for both a ceasefire and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz just hours before the deadline set by President Trump for Iran expires tonight. Sharif stated, "We request Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz for a two-week period as a gesture of goodwill. Additionally, we call on all conflicting parties everywhere to declare a ceasefire for two weeks." Eyes are now turned to the statements expected from the US and Iran.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif made a peace offer to reduce tensions just hours before the deadline set by U.S. President Trump for Iran. Sharif requested Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks as a gesture of goodwill to ease regional tensions. The Pakistani leader stated that this move could open a diplomatic door and called on all parties to exercise restraint.

SHARIF CALLS FOR A TWO-WEEK CEASEFIRE

Sharif also emphasized the need for a general ceasefire that would be valid "everywhere" for two weeks to ensure that the crisis does not remain limited to the region.

Sharif stated: "Pakistan, with all sincerity, requests its Iranian brothers to open the Strait of Hormuz for the same two-week period as a gesture of goodwill.

Furthermore, in the interest of establishing long-term peace and stability in the region; we call on all conflicting parties to declare a ceasefire for two weeks everywhere to ensure that diplomacy brings an end to the war definitively."

TRUMP'S IRAN THREAT

Trump stated in an interview with Fox News today that there would be an unprecedented attack on Iran, saying, "It will happen at 8:00 PM."

In a post on social media, Trump commented, "A great civilization will be destroyed tonight and will never be brought back. I don't want this to happen, but it probably will."

Previously threatening Iran if it did not open the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, Trump included in his social media post on April 5, "At 8:00 PM Eastern Time on Tuesday (03:00 on April 8 in Turkey)."
