A 4.5-hour Ukraine summit held between Russia and Saudi Arabia has raised hopes for peace. The U.S. State Department announced that the U.S. and Russia have agreed to appoint high-level teams to end the Ukraine war as soon as possible. The Kremlin stated that the meeting went well.

The capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, is hosting a historic summit today. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov have come together to discuss the course of the war in Ukraine.

According to the Russian TASS agency, the meeting lasted 4.5 hours. The Kremlin announced that the talks went well. The U.S. State Department stated that Rubio and Lavrov agreed to appoint senior teams to start working towards ending the war as soon as possible.

AGREEMENT ON COOPERATION

The spokesperson reported that Rubio and Lavrov agreed to establish a consultation mechanism to address "provocative elements" in U.S.-Russia relations and to cooperate in the future on mutual geopolitical interests and the historical economic and investment opportunities arising from the end of the conflict in Ukraine.
