Illegal betting operation in 16 provinces: Famous names detained.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported that 27 people were detained in the "Siberağ-13" operations targeting suspects accused of promoting illegal betting sites and encouraging online gambling on social media.

27 PEOPLE ARRESTED IN BETTING OPERATION

Minister Yerlikaya stated in a post on his social media account that operations named "Siberağ-13" were conducted in 16 provinces, including Istanbul and Izmir, as part of the fight against illegal betting and online gambling. Yerlikaya reported that 27 people were detained, noting that some of the suspects were referred to as "social media influencers" and had a large number of followers on social media applications.

"WORKS LASTED 4 MONTHS"

Minister Yerlikaya noted: "Illegal betting is a crime that threatens not only individuals but also the future of society. As a result of 4 months of work coordinated by our public prosecutors and the Cyber Crime Department of the General Directorate of Security, investigations were initiated by our prosecutors against social media users with a large number of followers for the crimes of advertising illegal betting and online gambling sites and encouraging illegal betting and online gambling on social media platforms."

As a result of the "Siberağ-13" operations conducted in Istanbul, Izmir, Gaziantep, Adana, Mersin, Ağrı, Antalya, Batman, Çorum, Diyarbakır, Erzurum, Eskişehir, Iğdır, Isparta, Sakarya, and Şırnak, a large number of digital materials were seized. Among the 27 people detained were suspects referred to as social media influencers with a high number of followers on social media applications. Yerlikaya stated that the cyber patrols are on duty 24/7 in the fight against crime and criminals, and congratulated the public prosecutors coordinating the operations and the police carrying them out.

FAMOUS ACTORS ALSO DETAINED

Among those detained are not only social media influencers but also actors from series. Burak Akyüz and Mustafa Yılmaz, who gained fame from the once-popular series "Sıfır Bir," were detained as part of the operation. Additionally, Raperin Yılmaz was also among those arrested.
