After the appointment of a trustee to Esenyurt Municipality, discussions about a congress emerged in the CHP, which has been going through turbulent days due to the exorbitant fees paid to artists by Ankara Metropolitan Municipality on October 29. While the internal opposition in the CHP called for an election congress, the party's General Chairman Özgür Özel closed the door to these calls.

DOES İMAMOĞLU WANT A CONGRESS?

While the discussions continue, the stance of İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu regarding whether he wants a congress has become a matter of curiosity. Former CHP MP Barış Yarkadaş stated in a live broadcast on tv100 that, according to backstage information, İmamoğlu has a clear opinion on this matter.

Yarkadaş said: "The Istanbul Provincial Chairman of the CHP, Özgür Çelik, held a meeting a few days ago. It was a meeting attended by district chairmen, mayors, and district administrators. After the presentation, Ekrem İmamoğlu spoke for 40 minutes. He conveyed his thoughts on the trustee in Esenyurt and his own ideas."

Yarkadaş stated, "As İmamoğlu was finishing his speech, he said, 'Although it is not on our agenda, I want to touch on one last topic. There is a signature debate going on in the media. These discussions are harming the party. Anyone who wants a congress is not my road partner, period.'

ÖZEL: I AM ENDING THE CONGRESS DISCUSSION

CHP General Chairman Özgür Özel stated regarding the "congress discussion" made by some CHP deputies on social media, "As the General Chairman of the CHP, I am ending this discussion. From now on, no CHP member should occupy the party and the public with such inward-looking agendas." Without distinguishing between right and wrong in the discussions, Özel apologized on behalf of all the wrongdoers to all the rightful ones, saying, "I absolutely call on everyone who values my word from the CHP not to engage in these discussions."
