Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was detained along with 87 others as part of a corruption and terrorism investigation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), made a call to the judiciary. In his latest message, İmamoğlu stated, "I cry out to the honorable, ethical, and thousands of prosecutors and judges of the esteemed Turkish Judiciary who live with a passion for serving their nation. You cannot remain silent; you must not."
87 people, including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, were detained as part of a corruption and terrorism investigation regarding the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
"I TRUST THE SUPREME TURKISH JUDICIARY"
In a new post made from the detained İmamoğlu's X account, striking statements were included. İmamoğlu called out to the members of the judiciary, saying; "I cry out to the tens of thousands of prosecutors and judges of the Supreme Turkish Judiciary who are honest, moral, and live with the love of serving their nation. You must stand up and take measures against a handful of your colleagues who have devastated this Turkish judiciary, who have disgraced us before the whole world, and who have destroyed our reputation. I trust the Supreme Turkish Judiciary. You cannot remain silent; you must not."
"THE EVENTS HAVE SURPASSED OUR POLITICAL IDEALS"
Addressing all politicians in the ruling coalition, İmamoğlu said, "These events have surpassed our parties and political ideals. The process now concerns our nation, starting with your families. It is time for us to raise our voices."
"SOVEREIGNTY UNCONDITIONALLY BELONGS TO THE NATION"
İmamoğlu continued his post with the following statements; "In these lands, there should be no saying 'let the snake that does not touch me live a thousand years.' I hope everyone raises their voice by saying 'even the snake that does not touch me cannot survive in these lands.' Our nation is great. Sovereignty unconditionally belongs to the nation."
