Due to a strike by municipal workers in the Bayraklı district of İzmir, garbage was not collected. Piles of trash accumulated on the streets and sidewalks. Residents of the district, who are waiting for the issue to be resolved as soon as possible, said, "We can't find anyone to talk to. We don't know who to complain to. Do we have to endure this disgrace?"

A garbage crisis is occurring in the Bayraklı district of İzmir. After failing to reach an agreement in collective bargaining negotiations between the General İş Union, affiliated with DİSK, and the Bayraklı Municipality, 1,400 union members decided to go on strike on November 26. As the workers hung a banner reading "There is a strike at this workplace" on the municipal building, piles of garbage formed in the streets and sidewalks.

"DO WE HAVE TO EXPERIENCE THIS SHAME?"

District residents expressed their frustrations, saying, "We can't find anyone to talk to. We don't know who to complain to. Do we have to experience this shame?" "IT GOT TO THIS STATE IN TWO DAYS"

Mustafa Kocaman, a barber in the Adalet neighborhood, stated that the bad smell caused by the garbage was disturbing the residents, saying, "Unfortunately, our garbage is in this state because there has been a strike here for 2 days. They should reach an agreement and resolve this situation as soon as possible. No one should suffer. The people here should not face health issues. This place got to this state in two days; we can't predict what will happen if it continues for another week."

"PROMISES ARE MADE, NONE ARE FULFILLED"

İsmail Teber, a resident of the Manavkuyu neighborhood, emphasized that the garbage crisis has been ongoing for about a week, stating, "Neither the minister nor anyone is sweeping the streets. We are just waiting. I can't find anything to say about this. If everyone did their job, but no one is doing it. Promises are made, but none of the promises are fulfilled."
