    "WE HEARD PEOPLE SCREAMING"

Mehmet Düzgüner, who lives on the street where the burning factory is located, said, "It was around 09:00. I was awake; there was an explosion sound. I got up and looked down; a man was on fire. I went downstairs and took the hose from the garden. I extinguished the man, then I heard the screams. When I looked towards the sound, children and women were screaming inside the factory. I wanted to intervene; I wanted to save them, but the flames were too big; I couldn't get in. We called the fire department; they arrived late. We heard people screaming helplessly," he said.

"THERE WAS NOT EVEN A FIRE EXTINGUISHER HERE"

Düzgüner, who stated that there had been complaints about the factory before, said, "There wasn't even a fire extinguisher here. This place has been operating for more than 4 years. The authorities say, 'There is a license here.' How can a chemical factory be licensed? I live here. We are 5 meters apart. I don't know exactly how many people work here. They say, 'They are young'; most of them were women. There are also people from the neighborhood. May God give patience to their families," he said.
