Seven barrels that washed ashore in the districts of Ünye, Fatsa, and Gülyalı in Ordu prompted a response from the teams. A chemical substance was detected in the barrel found in Gülyalı. The barrel was removed from the shore by the teams of the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change for disposal.

TEAMS HAVE MOVED INTO ACTION
Citizens who saw the suspicious barrels washed ashore reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Following the notification, teams from the Coast Guard Command and AFAD Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Threats (CBRN) were dispatched to the scene.
CHEMICAL SUBSTANCE DETECTED
After the necessary examinations, no chemical, radiological, or nuclear findings were detected in the barrels washed ashore in Ünye and Fatsa districts. However, a chemical substance was detected in the barrel in Gülyalı district. Following the examinations, the teams from the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change took the barrel for disposal.
IT IS BEING CONSIDERED THAT IT MAY HAVE COME FROM GEORGIA
While it was stated that the barrels in Ünye and Fatsa districts were barrels used as buoys at the pier, it was noted that the barrel washed ashore in Gülyalı district may have fallen from a ship or drifted from Georgia.
