Due to heavy rainfall affecting certain areas in Istanbul, traffic congestion reached 76% on the first business day of the week.
While traffic is moving slowly in the city in the morning hours, there has been a crowd, especially at transfer stations in public transportation.
On the European Side, vehicles are struggling to move on the D-100 highway towards Ankara at Avcılar, Bakırköy, Edirnekapı, Haliç Bridge, Halıcıoğlu, Mecidiyeköy, and Çağlayan. On the TEM Highway towards Ankara, traffic congestion is experienced in Seyrantepe, Hasdal, and Kağıthane. There is vehicle density observed at the transition points between the Anatolian and European sides, particularly on the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, and the Eurasia Tunnel along with connecting roads.
TRAFFIC IS HEAVIER ON THE ANATOLIAN SIDE
On the Anatolian Side, vehicles are struggling to move on the D-100 highway towards Edirne at Bostancı, Uzunçayır, Ataşehir, and Ümraniye. Due to the intermittent rain affecting the city, drivers are moving slowly in traffic, and there is also congestion at public transportation stops where transfers are made.
According to İBB CepTrafik map data, traffic density on the European Side reaches up to 71%, while on the Anatolian Side it reaches up to 83%, and the overall traffic density in the city has risen to 76%.
