In an armed attack on a passenger bus in Nigeria's Plateau State, 28 people were kidnapped. Security forces have launched an operation to rescue the abducted individuals. Despite the death penalty for kidnapping in the country, incidents of abduction for ransom are frequently encountered.
According to news from the national press, a bus carrying passengers returning from Mevlid celebrations was attacked by unidentified armed individuals on the Bashar-Zak highway in Plateau State. In the attack, 28 people, including women and children, were abducted.
RESCUE OPERATION INITIATED
Plateau State Police Spokesperson Alabo Alfred stated that security forces have been dispatched to the scene and are working to rescue the abducted individuals.
