Nineteen suspects have been detained in connection with allegations of bribery, embezzlement, and tampering with tenders against the previous administration of the Manavgat Municipality in Antalya. Former Manavgat Mayor Şükrü Sözen and his brother Fatih Sözen had been arrested as part of the same investigation.
In Antalya, 19 more suspects were detained in relation to the allegations of "bribery," "embezzlement," and "manipulation of tenders" during the previous administration of the Manavgat Municipality.
Within the scope of the investigation coordinated by the Manavgat Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, detention orders were issued for 19 suspects, including former Manavgat Mayor Şükrü Sözen and his brother Fatih Sözen, who are currently in custody.
19 PEOPLE DETAINED
In a simultaneous operation carried out by the Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Smuggling and Organized Crime Prevention teams, 19 people were detained, including municipal employees and former municipal employees.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Former Manavgat Mayor Şükrü Sözen and his brother Fatih Sözen were arrested on September 11 as part of the investigation into the crimes of "bribery," "embezzlement," and "manipulation of tenders." It was reported that a large amount of money and jewelry were seized during the search of the Sözen brothers' homes.
Additionally, 8 more suspects, including former deputy mayors B.Ö. and L.A., were also arrested as part of the investigation.
Furthermore, in another investigation targeting the Manavgat Municipality, the trial of 41 defendants, including 9 who are in custody, began, among them Niyazi Nefi Kara, who was arrested and suspended from duty while serving as mayor.
