In the recent operation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, 8 out of the 17 individuals taken into custody were arrested. Among those arrested was Deniz Erzincan, the Deputy General Manager of Boğaziçi A.Ş. The other 9 individuals taken into custody were released under judicial control conditions.
Eight people, including Deniz Erzincan, the Deputy General Manager of Boğaziçi A.Ş., were arrested in the corruption investigation against İBB.
The interrogation procedures of 17 suspects, who were detained on charges of "giving bribes," "receiving bribes," and "interfering with a tender," as part of the corruption investigation against İBB conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, have been completed.
REQUEST FOR THEIR ARREST
Among the suspects, Ali Cüneyt Özdemir, Can Karataş, Cengiz Tosun, Deniz Erzincan, Erdinç Karataş, Mehmet Karataş, Murat Timuçin Altıer, and Taylan Çokyiğit were referred to the peace criminal court with a request for arrest. The prosecutor's office requested judicial control measures for 9 suspects.
8 PEOPLE WERE ARRESTED
Of the 17 people referred to the court with a request for arrest, 8 were arrested. Among those arrested was Deniz Erzincan, the Deputy General Manager of Boğaziçi A.Ş. The other 9 people who were detained were released under judicial control conditions.
WHAT HAPPENED?
As part of the investigation conducted against the suspects, including Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was removed from his position as the Mayor of İBB after his arrest, new evidence was obtained, resulting in the identification of 18 more suspects for charges of "being a leader of a criminal organization," "being a member of a criminal organization," "embezzlement," "bribery," "qualified fraud," "illegally obtaining personal data," and "interfering with a tender."
Operations were carried out by the Istanbul Financial Crimes Investigation Branch teams to capture the suspects who were subject to detention orders for "giving bribes," "receiving bribes," and "interfering with a tender." In the operation, 17 suspects were captured.
After their procedures at the police station, it was requested that 8 of the suspects referred to the courthouse be arrested, while judicial control measures were requested for 9 others.
