A fire broke out in a large complex in Hong Kong consisting of 8 blocks and approximately 2,000 apartments. The flames quickly engulfed all the apartments, and there are reports of casualties and injuries.
A fire in a multi-story complex in the Tai Po area of Hong Kong quickly grew.
As the flames spread rapidly, a large number of firefighters were dispatched to the area. Local media reported that there were fatalities and serious injuries, and efforts were being made to rescue those trapped inside. It was reported that the neighboring towers' bamboo scaffolding also caught fire in the massive complex, which consists of 8 blocks and approximately 2,000 apartments. The firefighters are continuing to combat the flames.
EMERGENCY DECLARED
The fire department announced that the first alert was received at 14:51 local time, and due to the rapid spread of the flames, the fire was raised to the second highest emergency level, 4, at 15:34.
HIGHWAY CLOSED TO TRAFFIC
Following the fire, a section of the Tai Po highway was completely closed to traffic, and bus routes were redirected for safety reasons.
