A scandal has emerged regarding the funerals of those who lost their lives in a plane crash in India. While incorrect bodies were delivered to families, remains of multiple individuals were found in some coffins. Due to this scandalous mistake, some funeral ceremonies were canceled at the last minute.

In the tragedy resulting from the crash of Air India flight number 171 on June 12 in India, not only the accident itself but also the subsequent process caused outrage. The chain of errors regarding the funerals of the passengers who lost their lives plunged grieving families into sorrow once again.

WRONG BODIES SENT TO FAMILIES

In the horrific accident, everyone on board the plane, except for one person among the 242 passengers and crew, lost their lives, and 19 people in the building where the plane's parts fell also perished. According to reports in the British press, due to identification errors, wrong bodies were sent to the families of 52 deceased individuals who were British citizens.

The identification errors made with the bodies sent to England led some families to cancel their funeral ceremonies at the last minute. One family realized that the body inside the coffin that arrived from India did not belong to their loved one. The identity of this person, who has not yet been identified, is still unknown.

MULTIPLE REMAINS IN THE SAME COFFIN

According to the Daily Mail, another scandal was that the remains of multiple deceased individuals were sent in the same coffin. This situation, revealed through DNA comparisons, necessitated the separation of the bodies. It was stated that human remains must be meticulously separated to properly conduct the funeral ceremonies.

SCANDAL REVEALED BY FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST DNA TEST

With the efforts of forensic pathologist Dr. Fiona Wilcox, who works in England, DNA samples from the individuals who lost their lives in the accident were compared with samples taken from their families. As a result of the analyses, it was confirmed that some bodies were incorrectly delivered to certain families. Following this development, investigations were launched both in India and in England.

It was noted that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer would directly raise the issue with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his official visit to India in the coming days.
