ONE OF THE TWO ENGINES CAUGHT FIRE
In statements made by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the airline regarding the incident, it was stated that the "Airbus A330" model plane, which had 282 passengers on board, caught fire in one of its two engines shortly after departing the gate for a flight from Orlando International Airport to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Georgia.
282 PASSENGERS EVACUATED
In a statement, it was noted that the first aid and fire brigade teams at the airport intervened in the fire after the engine caught fire from the exhaust pipe, and 282 passengers were evacuated using emergency slides. Delta Airlines announced that the evacuated passengers would be taken to Atlanta on another plane. Meanwhile, the FAA has launched an investigation into the incident, which resulted in no fatalities or injuries.
