Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated that the penalty of 2,167 TL for not complying with the "Stop" warning is not deterrent, saying, "With the new bill proposal, they won't even think about ignoring the stop warning." Yerlikaya announced that according to the new proposal, drivers who do not comply with the warning will face a fine of 200,000 TL, and their driver's licenses will be confiscated for 60 days, along with the vehicle being banned from traffic.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated that the penalties will be increased to deterrent levels in the new traffic law proposal by sharing images of a driver who did not comply with the police's "Stop" warning on his NSocial account in the Sincan district of Ankara.

"THEY WON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT"

In his post, Minister Yerlikaya said, "According to the New Traffic Law Proposal, the driver's license of this motorcyclist will be revoked for 60 days, and the motorcycle will be banned from traffic for 60 days. The current penalty for 'Not Complying with the Stop Warning' is 2,167 TL. Do you think this penalty is deterrent? We have lost 9 martyrs in the last 6 years due to drivers who did not comply with the stop warning. We have 16 veterans. 29 civilians lost their lives, and 1,955 were injured. How can we explain this? What does it mean to not comply with the stop warning? With the new law proposal, we will eliminate these violations. They won't even think about not complying with the stop warning," he said.

"WITH THE NEW LAW, THE FINE WILL BE 200 THOUSAND TL"

Yerlikaya noted that the driver R.E.İ., who did not comply with the police's 'Stop' warning in the Sincan district of Ankara, was caught by the Sincan District Police Department teams, stating, "The motorcyclist certainly could not escape from us. He was fined under the Highway Traffic Law No. 2918. According to the New Traffic Law Proposal: A driver who does not comply with the 'Stop' warning will be fined 200 thousand TL, their driver's license will be revoked for 60 days, and their vehicles will be banned from traffic for 60 days. Ignoring traffic rules and not complying with the 'Stop' warning disregards both traffic safety and the safety of others. Please report these individuals who disregard traffic safety to our 112 Emergency Call Center. We will take the necessary actions," he expressed.
