The famous kebab chef Bedri Usta's response to a user who criticized the prices of his business on social media became a hot topic. Bedri Usta replied to the user's reaction with the words, "You have few followers, let me share it so that people see you." Following the complaints, his business was put under investigation. As part of the investigation, the prices of five different products sold at the establishment will be scrutinized to determine whether there has been any "unjust price increase" on those products.
Bedrettin Aydoğdu, known as 'Master Bedri', one of Turkey's most famous kebab chefs, has come under the radar of the Ministry of Trade due to a post he made on his Instagram account.
THE THREAD HAS COME UNDONE
After dining at the Kalamış branch, a customer shared a receipt on their account, stating that they paid 3,600 TL for a non-alcoholic dinner for three people (one being a baby), and that the total cost, including valet fees, amounted to 4,000 TL. The post included the statement, "Just the food and table setting was 3,600 TL… Adding the 400 TL valet fee we paid at the door, the cost of a 2-hour meal is 4,000 TL. One lahmacun is 290 TL, one soup is 380 TL… We want the tradesmen to earn, but the thread has come undone."
BEDRI USTA'S POST DREW REACTION
In a quoted response from Bedri Usta's official account to the customer's post, the words "Your followers are few, let me share so that you can be seen" drew backlash on social media.
AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED ON THE BUSINESS
Following this post, which received thousands of comments on X, Bekir Kaplan, Press Advisor of the Ministry of Trade, stated that inspections were carried out at the restaurant by the teams of the Istanbul Trade Provincial Directorate. Kaplan noted in his post, "An inspection was conducted on December 30, 2025, at the branch operating in Kadıköy-Fenerbahçe by the teams of the Istanbul Trade Provincial Directorate. Within the scope of the inspections, five different products in the establishment were evaluated for unfair price increases. In this regard, purchase-sale invoices, cost documents, and defenses from the business for the last three months were obtained. Additionally, during the inspections, practices contrary to the provision of the Price Tag Regulation stating that 'labels, price lists, and tariffs must not contain misleading and deceptive information' were identified, and administrative action was taken against the business."
INSPECTIONS WILL CONTINUE UNABATED
In the statement, it was noted that the identified irregularities were referred to the Unfair Price Increase Board, and that there would be no tolerance for opportunism and practices contrary to the legislation, emphasizing that inspections would continue with determination.
