The 2026 IMEI registration fee that must be paid for mobile phones brought from abroad to be used in Turkey will be applied as 54,258 TL starting tomorrow. The phones must be registered within a maximum of 120 days from the date of entry into Turkey, and if the period is exceeded, the device will be disabled.
The IMEI registration fee that must be paid for mobile phones brought from abroad to be used in Turkey will be applied as 54,258 TL starting tomorrow (January 1, 2026). The new fee was recalculated after a change made by the President's decision in the Revaluation Rate (YDO), which determines the annual increase rate for taxes and fees.
Under normal circumstances, the YDO was calculated as 25.49%. However, with the President's decision published in the Official Gazette, this rate will be applied as 18.95%. This regulation ensured that the expected increase in the phone registration fee was lower.
According to the calculation made, with an 18.95% increase, the IMEI registration fee rises to 54,258 TL, while it was expected to be 57,240 TL if the discounted rate had not been applied. Thus, thanks to the decision, a difference of approximately 3,000 TL was created in the registration fee.
THE CONDITIONS FOR PHONE REGISTRATION HAVE NOT CHANGED
While the fee increases in 2026, it was stated that the rules regarding the registration process of devices brought from abroad will continue to be applied in the same way. Accordingly, the device must be registered within a maximum of 120 days from the date of entry into Turkey. If the period is exceeded, the device will be disabled for communication.
Additionally, a person can only register one device under their own passport within two years. The registered phone is only allowed to work with lines registered to the passport holder's Turkish ID number.
WHERE WILL THE PAYMENT BE MADE?
The fee set at 54,258 TL for the year 2026 can be paid through the Interactive Tax Office or through contracted banks. After the payment process, the "IMEI Registration" transactions can be completed through the e-Government portal, and the device can be activated for use.
