It was reported that Ali Larijani, the Secretary General of Iran's National Security Council, made a surprise move during the ongoing war by initiating diplomatic efforts to resume talks with the United States through Omani mediation and trying to revive indirect contacts between the parties.

The Secretary General of the Iranian National Security Council, Ali Larijani, has accelerated new diplomatic initiatives with Washington through Oman, which is playing a mediating role. This initiative is interpreted as an effort to strengthen the groundwork for the recently resumed indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States in recent weeks.

During Larijani's visit to Muscat, it was reported that he met with Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi, and discussions focused on ways to complete the missing contacts between Tehran and Washington.

OMAN PLAYS A CRITICAL ROLE

Oman's status as a mediator plays a critical role in keeping diplomatic channels open during a period when direct contact between Iran and the United States has been cut off for nearly a year. Oman is recognized as one of the rare regional actors that maintains stable contact with both Iran and the United States.

EYES ON POSSIBLE MEETING IN VIENNA

This diplomatic effort is accompanied by several rounds of indirect nuclear negotiations that were previously held in Muscat and Geneva. While there has been progress on key issues during these discussions, a final agreement has not yet been reached, and it is planned for the talks to continue at a technical level in Vienna.
