The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed to have shot down a U.S. F/A-18 fighter jet. The Guards released footage of the downed aircraft, showing moments of the jet rapidly descending. It has become a matter of curiosity what response Trump, who is facing criticism in his country due to the deaths of U.S. soldiers in attacks on Iran, would give in the event of casualties from the downed aircraft.

Iran has released footage claiming to show the moment it shot down a U.S. F/A-18 fighter jet.

IRAN RELEASED FOOTAGE OF THE U.S. JET THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE SHOT DOWN

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps shared footage that it claims shows the moment they hit a U.S. F/A-18 fighter jet. Iranian officials stated that the jet was targeted by domestic defense systems for violating airspace, while the released videos showed the jet rapidly losing altitude and crashing.

U.S. JETS DOWNED IN ATTACKS ON IRAN

Claims regarding aircraft losses during operations in March 2026 presented two different scenarios. The Iranian side announced that they shot down an F-35 violating airspace, an F-15 over the Strait of Hormuz, and an F/A-18 fighter jet, sharing footage of the moment of the crashes. In contrast, the U.S. (CENTCOM) reported that no manned fighter jets were downed during the operations.

During this process, the most clearly verified losses were 12 MQ-9 Reaper drones shot down by Iran, while on the manned aircraft side, three F-15Es mistakenly hit by Kuwaiti air defense and a KC-135 tanker aircraft that crashed in Iraq due to technical failure were recorded.
