The Iranian leader Khamenei received a large group of students at his residence in Tehran on the occasion of "National Student Day," celebrated on the anniversary of the U.S. Embassy's seizure in Tehran in 1979. In his speech at the meeting, Khamenei stated that the U.S. embassy was used as a "nest of espionage" in Iran at that time, saying, "The American embassy was not only a diplomatic and information center but also a planning center for inciting internal unrest against the revolution and for destroying the revolution, and even threatening the life of the esteemed Imam (Revolution leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini)." Referring to Israel's actions in the region and its attack on Iran on October 26, Khamenei said, "The enemies, both the Zionist regime and the United States, must know that they will definitely receive a severe response for their actions against Iran, its people, and the resistance front." In part of his speech, Khamenei stated: "Of course, the general movement of the Iranian nation and the country's officials to confront the criminal apparatus that governs the world order will absolutely not fail in any way. Rest assured. To counter arrogance, we will certainly do everything necessary in terms of military, armament, or political actions, and the officials are currently busy doing these things."
