Due to the attacks by the US and Israel on Iran, Iraq has decided to extend the closure of its airspace for an additional 3 days. According to a written statement from the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority, Iraq will keep its airspace closed to flights for another 72 hours due to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
The statement indicated that the mentioned period has been extended until Saturday at 12:00 PM. Iraq announced on February 28 that it had closed its airspace to flights for 24 hours in protest of the US and Israel's attacks on Iran, and later extended this period by another 24 hours.
US-ISRAEL ATTACKS ON IRAN
On February 28, while negotiations were ongoing between Tehran and Washington, Israel and the US launched a military attack on Iran.
In response, Iran attacked targets it had identified in several regional countries, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain, where US bases are located, in addition to Israel.
In the US-Israel attacks, Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with many high-ranking officials, was killed. The Iranian Red Crescent announced that 787 people lost their lives in the US-Israel attacks.
