The Israeli army announced that they have launched an attack named "Rising Lion" to strike Iran's nuclear enrichment program. A retaliation was expected from Iran against the 300 attacks carried out by 200 fighter jets of the Israeli army. It was reported that the Iranian army launched more than 100 kamikaze drones to the front line.
NATANZ NUCLEAR FACILITY STRUCK
The head of the Iranian Atomic Agency stated, "The Natanz nuclear facility has been destroyed." Israeli army radio reported that numerous military targets in various regions of Iran were hit in the initial attack, noting that military targets, commanders, headquarters, and nuclear facilities were attacked.
NO LEAK DETECTED
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced that no increase in radiation was detected at the Natanz Nuclear Facility targeted by Israel. The IAEA stated that they are in contact with Iranian officials and are monitoring the status of nuclear energy facilities in the country. The IAEA's statement noted that Iran's nuclear energy facility in Bushehr was not targeted in the attack.
6 IRANIAN SCIENTISTS KILLED
According to Iran's semi-official news agency Tasnim, in the attacks carried out by Israel in the early morning on various cities in Iran, nuclear scientists Abdulhamid Menuchehr, Ahmed Reza Zolfaghari, Amir Hossein Fekri, Motlabizadeh, Mohammad Mehdi Tehranji, and Faridun Abbasi lost their lives. Among the deceased, Faridun Abbasi had served as the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization. Abbasi had survived an assassination attempt in 2010, for which Israel was blamed. The other deceased scientist, Mohammad Mehdi Tehranji, was serving as the president of Islamic Azad University.
NETANYAHU: WE ALSO TARGETED SCIENTISTS PRODUCING NUCLEAR BOMBS
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a statement regarding the attack on Iran. Stating that "we are at a decisive point in Israeli history," Netanyahu continued: "Our fighter pilots are striking many points in Iran. We will continue this operation for as many days as it takes. Our fight is not with the Iranian people but with the dictatorial regime." Netanyahu also stated, "We struck the uranium enrichment center in Natanz. We also targeted scientists producing nuclear bombs. We hit nuclear facilities and dozens of military targets in various regions of Iran; the first phase is complete."
