With the expected snowfall in Istanbul becoming effective, there has been growing curiosity about whether schools will be closed on the last day of the year. In response, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül made a statement.
After the meteorological warnings, the temperature dropped in the megacity, and the rainy weather that was effective in the evening turned into snow in some areas.
WHITE COVER IN THE MEGACITY
In the European side, especially in the high areas, snowfall showed its effect. A thin layer of snow formed on vehicles in Sultangazi.
In Başakşehir, Arnavutköy, and Beylikdüzü, a white snow cover began to form in green areas due to the snowfall, which sometimes increased in intensity.
Snowfall is also effective in the regions of Bağcılar, Küçükçekmece, Avcılar, Esenyurt, and Silivri. In the Taksim area of Beyoğlu, one of the city's important tourist centers, mixed rain and snow were also effective.

Due to the snowfall, some citizens experienced short-term difficulties, while others recorded those moments with their mobile phones.
On the Asian side, in the regions of Çekmeköy, Beykoz, Kartal, and Ümraniye, mixed rain and snow are showing their effects.

In a statement on his social media account, Governor Gül said, "Dear student siblings, the light snowfall seen in some areas of our city is not at a level that will negatively affect education. According to meteorological data, the precipitation is expected to end within about an hour. I wish you good sleep."
