The Motor Vehicle Tax has been increased by 18.95% effective from January 1st. The decision has been published in the Official Gazette and has come into effect.
The amounts of the Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) for the year 2026 have been clarified with the revaluation rate published in the Official Gazette. As in every year, there will be an increase in MTV this year as well.
According to the publication in the Official Gazette, the increase of 25.49% based on the revaluation rate has been reduced to 18.95% with the President's authority to apply a discount.
THE REVALUATION RATE HAS BEEN SET AT 25.49%
By law, the amounts of MTV increase every year according to the revaluation rate. For the year 2026, this rate was published in the Official Gazette and determined to be 25.49%.
THE INCREASE RATE FOR MTV HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan exercised his authority to apply a discount on this rate. With the discount applied, the increase rate for MTV in 2026 has been reduced to 18.95%.
DISCOUNTS WERE ALSO APPLIED IN PAST YEARS
Most recently, the increase rate of 122.93% determined for the year 2023 was also reduced to 61.5% through the President's intervention.
