According to the data from the Istanbul Governorship, over 3,000 operations were conducted in the fight against terrorism in 2025, and thousands of suspects were apprehended. While there was a decrease in thwarted terrorist acts, the amount of money seized in operations targeting the financing of terrorism increased tenfold.
According to the Istanbul Governorship's three-year data titled "The Peace of Istanbul is the Peace of Turkey," thousands of operations were carried out in the fight against terrorism in 2025, many suspects were apprehended and arrested. While there was a noticeable decrease in thwarted terrorist actions, the amount of money seized in operations targeting the financing of terrorism increased tenfold.
DENSE OPERATIONS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM IN 2025
According to the statistics shared by the Istanbul Governorship, a total of 3,186 operations were conducted in 2025 against PKK/KCK, FETÖ, individual, religiously exploitative, and leftist terrorist organizations. In these operations, 5,883 people were apprehended, 1,249 suspects were arrested, and judicial control measures were applied to 1,008 individuals.
DECREASE IN THWARTED TERRORIST ACTIONS
According to the governorship's data, the number of thwarted terrorist actions in Istanbul has decreased over the past three years.
In 2023, 9 terrorist actions were thwarted, 4 in 2024, and this number was recorded as 2 in 2025. Thus, a total of 15 terrorist actions were prevented through the efforts of security forces over three years.
OPERATIONS AGAINST PKK/KCK, FETÖ, AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS
According to the data for 2025; 360 operations were conducted against PKK/KCK, 484 people were apprehended, 146 people were arrested, and 106 people were released under judicial control.
720 operations were carried out against FETÖ. In this context, 1,272 suspects were apprehended, 477 people were arrested, and 314 people were released under judicial control conditions.
149 operations were conducted against leftist terrorist organizations. 491 suspects were apprehended, 174 people were arrested, and judicial control measures were applied to 170 individuals.
Against religiously exploitative terrorist organizations, 309 operations were conducted. 1,294 people were apprehended, 309 suspects were arrested, and 194 people were processed under judicial control.
Under the title Individual-Spy-REJECTION, 1,648 operations were conducted in 2025, with a total of 2,342 suspects apprehended, of which 143 were arrested.
BLOW TO THE FINANCING OF TERRORISM: SEIZED MONEY INCREASED TENFOLD
There was a remarkable increase in operations targeting the financing of terrorism. In 2023, 3 million 680 thousand TL was seized, in 2024, 11 million 191 thousand TL was seized, and in 2025, this figure reached 40 million 152 thousand TL. Thus, approximately a tenfold increase was recorded in the amount of money seized in one year.
