This amount is equivalent to the consumption of approximately 1,500 households, and the monthly cost was reported to be equivalent to 1,000 quarter gold coins.
Dicle Electricity announced that it discovered a hidden cryptocurrency mining facility during a routine loss and theft inspection at its facility in the Hilvan district of Şanlıurfa. It was understood that the electricity necessary for cryptocurrency production was supplied through a stolen transformer. During the inspection conducted with AI-supported drones, a hidden structure designed like a barn was found, containing a stolen transformer with a capacity of 1,600 kWh. It was determined that the facility consumed 40,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity daily through the established illegal electricity system, which is equivalent to the daily consumption of approximately 1,500 households.
INSPECTIONS ARE CONTINUING STRICTLY
Dicle Electricity, which reported that it actively uses technology with the goal of uninterrupted, lossless, and quality energy distribution, stated that it detected an unusual usage in its inspections of illegal electricity consumption. The statement included the following remarks: "During the inspection in the Hilvan district of Şanlıurfa, a hidden cryptocurrency mining facility was found inside a structure resembling a barn. It was determined that electricity was supplied through a stolen transformer with a capacity of 1,600 kWh. Inspections conducted with AI-supported drones revealed that cryptocurrency mining was taking place in a barn-like facility made of bricks in the rural area of Aşağıkucak neighborhood, located between Hilvan and Siverek districts."
EQUIVALENT TO 1 QUARTER OF GOLD
It was determined that the facility consumed 40,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity daily through the established illegal transformer system, which is equivalent to the daily consumption of approximately 1,500 households. Experts stated that the monetary value of the electricity used in the hidden cryptocurrency mining facility, when operating at full capacity, is equivalent to approximately 1,000 quarters of gold per month.
PROSECUTION DECIDED TO SEIZE THE STOLEN TRANSFORMER
The company announced that it filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office after the detection of the stolen transformer, and that the prosecutor's office decided to seize the transformer following the application. It was stated that investigations regarding the computer systems and connected devices used in cryptocurrency production at the facility are ongoing by security forces.
