An object believed to be an "underwater bomb" washed ashore in the Çayeli district of Rize.

NOBODY WAS ALLOWED TO APPROACH

Those passing by the beach in Büyüktaşhane Neighborhood noticed a rusted metal object washed ashore around noon. Police teams were dispatched to the address upon notification.

Teams that arrived at the scene set up a security cordon a few meters away from the object and did not allow anyone to approach. According to initial assessments by experts, the object, which is thought to be an 'underwater bomb', will be destroyed by a special team.

"I'VE NEVER SEEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS BEFORE"

Meanwhile, after posts spread on social media, some curious individuals came to the beach to take pictures of the object. One of these individuals, Murat Demir, said, "I don't know if it came from Ukraine or Russia, but it looks like a bomb. I've never seen something like this before; it looks like an unexploded mine. I was curious, so I came. I will also record a video. Let's shoot our video and leave from here."
