The construction of a 17,500-seat stadium in Kahramanmaraş is expected to be completed and opened for the 2027-2028 season. The multi-purpose facility will host sports competitions and events.
In Kahramanmaraş, under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the stadium with a capacity of 17,500 spectators, currently under construction by the Housing Development Administration (TOKİ), is expected to be opened for the 2027-2028 season.
The Kahramanmaraş Stadium, under construction in the İstasyon neighborhood of Dulkadiroğlu district, will serve as a multi-purpose facility hosting both sports competitions and various events upon completion.
The project, built on an area of 105,000 square meters, will include units of the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, spectator foyers and service units, athlete foyer, locker rooms, 2 warm-up halls, 3 training halls, commercial units, and prayer rooms.
TOKİ Construction Specialist Taha Selvi told AA reporter that construction work on the stadium continues according to the planned schedule. Stating that construction is at 35% level, Selvi said, "Our manufacturing continues at the 17,500-seat Kahramanmaraş Stadium. According to our plans, the stadium is expected to open in the 2027-2028 season."
"IT WILL BE A HIGHLIGHT OF THE CITY"
Noting that precast concrete production continues, and steel roof manufacturing and facade work have begun, Selvi stated that the project is not limited to just the stadium.
Emphasizing that they pay special attention to earthquake safety, Selvi noted:
"The project includes social reinforcement areas. In the future, sports complexes will also be located around it. The stadium will also contain training fields and the building of the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports. The stadium rises on 2,233 bored piles, each 19 meters long. After establishing a solid foundation, we began our manufacturing. In a city that has experienced an earthquake, we give the necessary importance to manufacturing quality to prevent the same pain from recurring. When completed, it will become an area with well-equipped sports complexes. It will be a highlight of the city."
