Located about an hour south of Florence, Radicondoli once housed 3,000 people, but its population has now dwindled to just 966. The town has around 450 homes, of which about 100 are vacant.
400,000 EURO BUDGET ALLOCATED
Mayor Francesco Guarguaglini stated in an interview with CNN, "The housing project launched two years ago is being accelerated. We have allocated more than 400,000 Euros this year to support new home purchases and rentals. Financial assistance for students, public transport users, and green energy subscribers is also being implemented."
GRANTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
Those wishing to move to the town, whether renters or home buyers, can benefit from financial incentives. Small apartments are priced at around 50,000 Euros ($60,000), while larger Tuscan-style farmhouses are priced at about 100,000 Euros ($117,000). According to the mayor, most buildings are in reasonably good condition, but some homes may require renovations costing around $10,000.
HOUSES CAN BE RENTED FOR 200 EUROS
Renters can lease homes that normally cost 400 Euros per month for just 200 Euros thanks to subsidies. Buyers can purchase a small apartment for about 30,000 Euros using a 20,000 Euro grant. The municipality aims to enhance quality of life, support economic development, and particularly attract young people to the town with these incentives.
POPULATION SLOWLY INCREASING IN THE TOWN
A statement on the Radicondoli municipality's website noted that when the project began, the population was around 900, and it has now risen to 960. The statement said, "Our policy of supporting families, creating services, enhancing culture and social interaction, and supporting commuters is based on the results achieved. The goal is to bring new friends to the community and increase living opportunities in the town."
