After the test results of Mehmet Akif Ersoy and Ela Rümeysa Cebeci, who were arrested in a drug operation, came back positive, their initial statements came to mind. Journalist İsmail Saymaz reacted strongly to Ersoy's claim of "I have never used [drugs]," saying, "Ela Rümeysa Cebeci hasn't even drunk a cologne, almost. The person who will be treated is entrusted with the morning news."
In a drug operation conducted by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams, 8 suspects, including Mehmet Akif Ersoy, were detained and sent to the Forensic Medicine Institution for health checks, where they provided hair and blood samples. It was reported that, in addition to Ersoy, famous presenters Ela Rümeysa Cebeci and Meltem Acet were released after being processed at the Forensic Medicine last week.
It was stated that the Forensic Medicine Institution has completed its examinations regarding the suspects. The report included the drugs detected in the hair samples examined. Accordingly, Mehmet Akif Ersoy's drug test came back positive, and evidence of cocaine use was found.
COCAINE AND MARIJUANA DETECTED IN CEBECİ
Among the names with positive test results was Ela Rümeysa Cebeci. It was stated that Cebeci's tests were positive for both cocaine and marijuana.
HARSH CRITICISM FROM İSMAİL SAYMAZ
Following the developments, journalist İsmail Saymaz made evaluations regarding the issue on the Para Siyaset program hosted by Ebru Baki on Halk TV. Saymaz criticized Mehmet Akif Ersoy's statement of "I never used" by saying, "Deceiving the public is more dangerous than using drugs."
"YOU'RE ALMOST ADDICTED TO THINNER"
Saymaz also used harsh words regarding Ela Rümeysa Cebeci, whom he claimed had sent him a message. Referring to the presence of different substances in the tests, he stated, "She tells me: 'I met Mehmet Akif Ersoy once outside. I go to bed at 8:00 PM, I go on air with the first light of morning, I am a person who lives the discipline of an athlete.' Oh dear. We have committed a great sin. I thought we have entered into a great burden. But brother, now you are making us operate. You are almost addicted to thinner. You are handing over the morning news to a woman who will be treated. Covering this situation with the literature of homeland and nation is a shame. Poor your father. Poor your mother, your father. It's a shame for the effort they put into you. We do not hold your actions accountable to your conservative mother and father, nor do we impose your parents' worldview on your shoulders."
