WHO IS ÜMİT ÖZLALE?Economist Ümit Özlale completed his middle and high school education at İzmir Bornova Anadolu High School and İzmir Science High School. Graduating from the Department of Economics at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1995, Özlale obtained his master's degree from Boston College, one of the prestigious educational institutions in the USA, in 1998, and his doctorate in 2001. Dr. Özlale then joined the Department of Economics at Bilkent University. Ümit Özlale became an associate professor in 2006 and a professor in 2011. He served as a faculty member at TOBB University of Economics and Technology from 2009 to 2013, and since 2013 at Özyeğin University, where he also took on the role of Head of the Department of Economics. Prof. Dr. Ümit Özlale, who is a founding partner of the consultancy company Sectoral and Economic Analysis Lab (SEAL) established by academics in 2015, taught Development Economics courses as a visiting faculty member at Harvard Summer School during the summer term. Prof. Dr. Özlale served as a member of the executive board of the TÜBİTAK Entrepreneurship Support Group. In addition to his academic work, Prof. Dr. Ümit Özlale worked as an academic advisor at the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) and carried out some projects with the Ministry of Finance and the World Bank. Entering politics in 2020, Prof. Dr. Ümit Özlale took on the roles of Deputy Chairman and member of the General Administrative Board (GIK) of the İYİ Party in September of the same year. Özlale was elected as a deputy from İzmir in the 2023 General Elections.
