Accordingly, it has been confirmed that Russia will not be able to participate in the 2026 World Cup. BANNED IN 2022Due to the war between Ukraine and Russia, the Russian National Team and Russian clubs have been unable to participate in UEFA and FIFA organizations since 2022. WHERE AND WHEN IS THE 2026 WORLD CUP?The 2026 World Cup will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Thus, the most important tournament in football history will be held for the first time in partnership with three different countries. The 2026 World Cup will take place from June 8 to July 8, 2026. The opening match of the tournament will be played in the United States, and the final match will be held at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. THE NEW FORMAT OF THE WORLD CUPThe 2026 World Cup will feature 48 teams. This will be a first in the tournament's history and will allow more countries to participate on the biggest stage of world football. The teams will be divided into 16 groups, each consisting of three teams. After the group matches, the top two teams from each group and the best third-placed teams, totaling 32 teams, will advance to the knockout stages.
