Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç spoke about the ongoing discussions regarding the 'Good Conduct Discount' and the 'Castration Law' related to sexual assault crimes. In his statement, Minister Tunç said, "We must take into account the criticisms coming from society." Following the recent increase in news about violence against women and femicides, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç made striking statements. In response to the question of whether there will be a change in the execution law, Minister Tunç stated, "The purpose of criminal justice is to protect society from crime. Our penal system must be deterrent and rehabilitative. We have serious efforts in this regard. We will strive to increase it further. We must take into account the criticisms coming from society," he said. Minister Tunç continued his statement as follows: "WE HAD MADE A REGULATION THAT DRESS CODE WOULD NOT BE A REASON FOR DISCOUNT"We had a proposal regarding these individuals being able to benefit from a one-year supervision period, which required them to stay in prison for a certain period. We will propose this again. There have always been criticisms regarding individuals who received discounts due to their dress code during the trial in the public eye. In the last legislative period, we had made a regulation that the dress code would not be a reason for discount to receive a pure discount, but the criticisms on this issue have continued. Now, this good conduct discount needs to be discussed again. We see that intentional homicide and intentional injury crimes, especially the practices of supervised release, have caused criticism in society. "WE MUST TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE CRITICISMS COMING FROM SOCIETY"We must take into account the criticisms coming from society. And we must especially protect society from crime. The purpose of criminal law, the purpose of criminal justice is to protect society from crime. In this sense, preventive measures against the commission of crimes are the most important issues. Both educational efforts and informative activities aimed at families, and after a crime is committed, the investigation must be conducted effectively. The investigation must be carried out effectively, and the law and the prosecution must maintain a very good relationship in this regard and collect evidence of the material truth. CASTRATION LAWIn response to a question about the 'Castration Law' related to sexual crimes that had previously come to the agenda, Minister Tunç stated, "We have the authority to decide on medical treatment in our penal execution law, and our legislation is in accordance with this. Regulations can be made in the legislation to develop the application."
