A 23-year-old woman who underwent gallbladder surgery at a private hospital in Ankara reportedly lost her life due to her intestine being accidentally cut during the operation. The grieving mother said, "My child is gone right in front of my eyes. I told the doctor, 'My child is not well, she is dying,' and he mocked me." The grieving father stated that similar cases had occurred at the same hospital before. It was learned that the woman had a 2-month-old baby.
23-year-old kindergarten teacher Kevser Çuhadar, living in the Polatlı district of Ankara, went to Özel Polatlı Can Hospital to undergo gallbladder surgery after experiencing health issues. According to allegations, Çuhadar's intestine was accidentally cut by the doctor during the surgery. The grieving family stated that the doctor concealed the situation and later confessed. Kevser Çuhadar lost her life due to negligence. Meanwhile, it was learned that the young woman had been married for a year and had a 2-month-old baby.
"THE DOCTOR SAID 'DID I CUT A VEIN OR WHAT DID I DO?'"
Çuhadar's mother, Durhanim Çetinkaya, stated that her daughter went to Polatlı Can Hospital to have surgery on her gallbladder, saying, "She said she wanted to have the surgery, get better as soon as possible, and return to work. She had no illnesses; she was perfectly healthy. She had the surgery, but the doctor cut her intestine and didn't tell us. My daughter was very bad on the first day. I told the doctor that my daughter couldn't recover, that she wasn't well. He said she was perfectly fine. I told the nurses, and they said everything was normal. Her blood pressure dropped, it went down to two. They said it was normal, that they would raise it. The doctor came and said let's request an ultrasound. He said, 'Did I cut a vein or what did I do?' He said to give blood, but the blood didn't come. He said they were waiting for it from Kızılay. We said let's take her to Ankara. He said it could be dangerous; she could die on the way. He didn't let us go. He said he would call a doctor friend from Ankara and perform the surgery here. He said there was definitely a cut in a small vein. Either he saw it and didn't tell us, I don't know anymore. My daughter was taken for a second surgery. She came out of surgery three hours later. Later, he said I had perforated her intestine. He said she would get up in 3-4 hours," she said.
DOCTOR'S RESPONSE TO "AM I DYING?" WAS "WE SAY GOD HAVE MERCY"
Durhanim stated that at 3 AM, after her daughter's blood pressure dropped, the nurses called the doctor, and her daughter asked the doctor, "Am I dying?" to which the doctor replied, "We say God have mercy." Durhanim then claimed that the doctor intentionally called for an ambulance, calculating that her daughter would die on the way to another hospital.
HER 2-MONTH-OLD BABY WAS LEFT ORPHANED
Durhanim expressed that the ambulance, which was supposed to take them to a distant city hospital, coincidentally broke down, and another ambulance came from Bilkent City Hospital to pick them up. She stated that her daughter's heart had stopped there and that everything came to light at that moment, adding that they were waiting for the results from the autopsy conducted by the forensic medicine. Durhanim emphasized that her daughter was 23 years old and left behind a 2-month-old baby.
"I SAID 'MY DAUGHTER IS DYING,' AND THE DOCTOR MADE FUN OF ME"
Çetinkaya, who noted that there had been many scandalous incidents at Can Hospital before, said, "I want that hospital to be closed. I also request this from the Ministry of Health. That hospital should be closed. Because this hospital was closed the first time. It changed hands and reopened. No more lives should be lost. My heart is broken. My beautiful child went before my eyes. The doctor also made fun of me. For two days, I told him that my child was not well and was dying. The doctor made fun of me. His name is Asım Yalvaç," she said.
"THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER INCIDENTS IN THE HOSPITAL, BUT EVERYONE HAS BEEN SILENT"
Çuhadar's father, Fatih Çetinkaya, stated that there was no intensive care unit or oxygen tank in the hospital, saying, "There is no blood. When we say to give blood, they don't take our blood. Ours is also O positive. Blood tests are required, etc. We are begging the guy to let us get out of there. We say, 'Friend, send us from here.' Polatlı has a huge private hospital. They couldn't even manage to call 112 and say, 'Give us an ambulance.' They couldn't do it. Because why? There is a mistake here. The other side says they want the information. They look at this information, these values, and this patient will die in my hands. That's why they couldn't send her to anyone. In the end, they sent her to a private hospital with which they had an agreement. Thank God the ambulance broke down on the way. A second ambulance was requested. The ambulance driver said this patient won't make it here. He said, 'I'm taking her to the city hospital.' They took her to the intensive care unit there. Her kidneys, liver, and lungs were all poisoned. The poison level had risen. I will file a lawsuit against this man. There have been other incidents in this hospital, but everyone has been silent. I learned yesterday at the prosecutor's office. Two days ago, an 8-year-old child died during a tooth extraction because he was given a high dose of anesthesia," he said.
