Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that there is no truth to reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation with Donald Trump, who was elected as the 47th President of the United States, and that Trump called for a de-escalation of tensions in the region. Peskov also indicated that there are no plans regarding this matter.
Kremlin spokesman Peskov evaluated the current issues in a statement to reporters in the capital Moscow. Refuting The Washington Post's report that "President-elect Trump had a phone conversation with Putin, calling for a de-escalation of tensions in the Russia-Ukraine War," Peskov stated, "There was no such conversation. This information is not based on reality; it is fiction. This is false information."
"PUTIN IS NOT PLANNING TO MEET WITH THE WEST EITHER"
In response to a question about whether Putin plans to call Trump, Peskov replied, "There are no plans in this regard." Peskov also stated that Putin does not plan to contact Western leaders, noting that they have not received any signals in this regard but are open to it.
OPERATIONS IN UKRAINE CONTINUE
Peskov pointed out that European countries continue to act in line with the goal of "strategically defeating Russia," stating that Russia is continuing its "special military operation" in Ukraine.
Spokesman Peskov said that tension and fear have been observed in Europe following Trump's election as President of the United States.
