An additional privilege is being granted to members of parliament. According to the new regulation in the Assembly, both former and current MPs will not have to pay fines for traffic violations they committed throughout their lives. Former CHP MP Sabahat Akkiraz, who shared a post on social media, confirmed the claims and expressed her reaction to the regulation.

Former CHP deputy and artist Sabahat Akkiraz made a statement on her social media account, stating that she was called from the Parliament and was informed that one of her vehicles would be exempt from traffic fines.

Akkiraz stated in her post, "They called from the Presidency of Parliamentary Services; if I apply with a petition, one of my vehicles will be exempt from traffic fines! Why? Do I have the right not to comply with the rules? Rules are for everyone. Vehicles with priority are determined by law. Stop constantly granting yourself privileges."

Lifetime exemption from traffic fines for deputies

3,600 FORMER AND CURRENT DEPUTIES WILL BE EXEMPT FROM FINES

If approved by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmuş, the new application will come into effect, allowing current deputies to have 2 vehicles and former deputies to have 1 vehicle exempt from traffic fines. With this right granted to current deputies also covering former deputies, there will be a total of 3,600 privileged former and current deputies in traffic.

According to the current regulation, only the vehicles of active deputies cannot be fined. If the new regulation comes into effect, former deputies will also be able to benefit from this privilege.
