A 19-year-old young man from Erzurum experienced horror while trying to refill his lighter. After the gas cylinder he was using exploded, his face and chest were burned, and he was taken to the hospital. Describing the nightmare he went through, the victim said, "I got burned, may others not burn," warning citizens.
19-year-old Eren Güngör, living in Erzurum, experienced a horrifying incident two days ago. The young man, who wanted to refill his empty lighter with lighter gas, did not notice the leak. The canister exploded in his hand.
TREATMENT CONTINUES
Güngör recounted that the moment he lit the lighter, the lighter gas canister in his hand exploded: "Thank God I threw it to the ground, only my face and chest were burned. Since it was winter, I immediately put snow on my face."
After the terrifying explosion, the young man's face and chest suffered second-degree burns. Güngör, whose hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows were also affected, was hospitalized for treatment.
WARNING AFTER WARNING
While recalling his experiences, Güngör said, "The moment of the explosion keeps coming to my mind. I got burned, so others shouldn't burn. My left side was quite burned, while my right side was slightly burned. I didn't expect it to be this dangerous," and emphasized the need to be careful when refilling lighter gas.
Dr. Emre Nohutçu from the Burn Treatment Center stated that 12 patients were being treated in the ward due to lighter gas explosions. "The burns of this patient occurred in an open area, but generally, burns on the hands, face, and body occur due to lighter gas explosions inside vehicles. Our patient does not have serious deep burns, but since the facial area is sensitive and risky, we are treating him while he is hospitalized. Especially in closed areas, gas accumulation can lead to explosions. It is very important for young people not to make mistakes like handling lighter gas," he said.
