French President Emmanuel Macron, who stated that he does not find a military operation to open the Strait of Hormuz realistic, used striking expressions in his statement regarding the U.S. attacks on Iran. Macron emphasized the reason for France's distance from the process by saying, "They decided on this operation themselves. This is not our operation."

French President Emmanuel Macron stated that a military operation to reopen the Strait of Hormuz is not realistic. Speaking to the French press in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, Macron expressed that such an initiative carries serious risks.

“WE BELIEVE IN INTERNATIONAL LAW AND COOPERATION”

Emphasizing France's fundamental approach in foreign policy, Macron stated that they are committed to the United Nations order, saying, “We believe in cooperation, free and fair trade.” Noting that unpredictable political developments are increasing globally, Macron said that partnerships need to be diversified for this reason.

“IT IS CLEAR THAT WAR DOES NOT PROVIDE A SOLUTION”

Referring to the process that began with the attacks by the US and Israel on Iran, Macron emphasized that France is “in favor of international law and stability.” Stating that the tension in the region needs to be reduced and a ceasefire must be achieved, Macron expressed that the current war does not provide a lasting solution to Iran's nuclear program.

DIPLOMATIC CALL FOR HORMUZ

Macron stated that freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz needs to be restored, saying that this should be resolved through diplomatic means, not military ones. He expressed that it would be more appropriate to open the strait in consultation with Iran.

“Today, our citizens and we are the victims of this war,” said Macron, drawing attention to the seriousness of the situation in terms of global trade and energy security.

“THIS OPERATION IS NOT OURS”

Emphasizing that France is not involved in the military process initiated by the US and Israel, Macron stated, “They decided on this operation themselves. This is not our operation,” and noted that their priority is to quickly establish peace and create a diplomatic framework.

NATO MESSAGE: “COMMITMENTS MUST BE KEPT”

Macron also addressed discussions regarding NATO, stating that alliances are based on trust. Emphasizing the importance of countries adhering to the agreements they have signed, Macron said, “If you create doubt about your commitment every day, you weaken this alliance.”

“When you sign a document, you also take on the responsibility of defending the security of your allies,” he stated.
