Magnitude 7.5 Earthquake Hits Peru

No casualties were reported so far.

A magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck Peru on Sunday, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The epicenter of the quake was 42 kilometers (26 miles) northwest of coastal city of Barranca, occurring at a depth of some 112.5 kilometers (70 miles).


No tsunami alert was issued following the quake and Peruvian authorities have not yet reported any casualties. -
