WHAT HAPPENED?
As part of the drug investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a detention order was issued for eight suspects, including journalist Mehmet Akif Ersoy, on charges of "purchasing, accepting, or possessing drugs or stimulants for personal use," "using drugs or stimulants, providing a place and means for their use," and "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime."
ERSOY AND 3 OTHERS WERE ARRESTED
Mehmet Akif Ersoy, Elif Kılınç, Ufuk Tetik, Gizem Aybaktı, Ebru Gülan, Mustafa Manaz, Dilara Yıldız, and Buse Öztay, who were taken into custody by the Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams, were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institution after their procedures were completed. The suspects were transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse after their procedures at the forensic medicine.
After their statements, the prosecutor requested the arrest of journalist Ersoy along with Manaz, Tetik, and Gülan, while the other suspects Yıldız, Öztay, Aybaktı, and Kılınç were referred to the duty magistrate with a request for judicial control measures. The magistrate decided to arrest four suspects, including Ersoy, while applying judicial control measures for four other suspects.
