The Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality is implementing the overpass intersection project planned in front of the Eyyübiye 800-Bed Education and Research Hospital on the Akçakale Highway, in accordance with the instructions of Mayor Mehmet Kasım Gülpınar. The tender for the project will be held on April 15, 2026. The aim of the overpass intersection is to reduce the traffic congestion experienced in the region.
In order to reduce the traffic congestion that has been experienced for many years in the Evren Industrial Site on the Gaziantep highway, Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality has started the construction of two overpass intersections, and is now launching a new project on the Akçakale Highway, one of the busiest routes in the city.
AN OVERPASS INTERSECTION IS BEING BUILT ON THE AKÇAKALE ROAD
In accordance with the instructions of Mayor Mehmet Kasım Gülpınar, an overpass intersection will be constructed in front of the Eyyübiye 800-Bed Capacity Training and Research Hospital. While the preparations for the project have been completed, it has been announced on EKAP that the tender date is April 15, 2026.
The project, which will be carried out by the Transportation Services Department of Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality, aims to ease the traffic in front of the hospital. Due to the vehicles entering and exiting the hospital, public transportation activity, the transportation of patient relatives, and ambulance passages, congestion is experienced for a large part of the day.
THE AIM IS TO REDUCE THE TRANSPORTATION LOAD AROUND THE HOSPITAL
With the planned overpass intersection, it is aimed to make the traffic flow safer, faster, and more orderly. With the implementation of the project, it is expected that both the transportation load around the hospital will be reduced and the vehicle circulation on the Akçakale Highway will become smoother.
It is anticipated that the investment planned on one of Şanlıurfa's busiest health and transportation axes will significantly relieve the regional traffic.
It is planned that the overpass intersection project, which is among the transportation vision projects of Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality, will proceed to the construction phase after the completion of the tender process.
